Alaska!

Just returned from a fabulous week in Juneau, Alaska. A week full of “cranberries” with many magical moments. The weather was fantastic, even though rain was forecasted every day. On one of our whalewatch adventures, we saw killer whales (orcas), who are only seen on 10% of trips, AND we observed humpback whales feeding cooperatively in a system known as bubble-net feeding. This is a rare phenomenon that only a subset of whales in Southeast Alaska perform.
We also saw beavers, a mountain goat, a bear, glaciers and icebergs. Wow, almost forgot bald eagles!

I am so excited to host a workshop designed for anyone who’s ever wanted to write a book. My friend and colleague, Tiffany Reardon, author of Rose Colored Lenses: A Survival Guide For Navigating Personalities in the Workplace is my co-host and partner. Part of this workshop will focus on how to inspire and motivate yourself. Think of inspiration as the spark and motivation as the fire. Both are critical in accomplishing your goals. What is that spark that gets you going, leading to that motivation that keeps you going? In that one magical day in Juneau, I took over 2100 photos (don’t you LOVE digital?). It was not easy holding my camera up to my face, while hanging on to a bouncy boat. I found my spark and fire through my love of whales. I kept it going no matter how cold, tired or banged up I was. For me, this was the spark:

And this was the fire:
